IOC Young Leader series –
“Changing the Score” in Rocinha, Brazil
Ospina Jones Studios for IOC Media
with Social Chain
In the heart of Brazil’s largest favela, Rocinha, Layana de Souza turned her basketball programme into a movement. As one of the International Olympic Committee’s Young Leaders, she founded “Mudando o Placar (Changing the Score)” — a project that’s bringing free basketball lessons, mentoring and educational support to children aged 6-17.
This film co-produced by Ospina Jones Studios and Social Chain captures Layana’s journey from athlete to change-maker, the rhythms of community life and the quiet strength of sport as a pathway to dignity and equal opportunity.
